Bosch oven stuck on the Bosch logo and not responding – faulty SystemMaster module (HBG7741B1 and others)

Brand: BoschAppliance: Ovens and hobs

This article in other languages: Polski · Deutsch

More and more owners of Bosch Serie 8 ovens – including compact, microwave and steam models – with a touch display and control ring – including the HBG7741B1 and HBG7242B1 – report the same fault. The oven worked fine, then one day it powers up, shows the Bosch logo and stops there. The touch panel does not respond, no function can be selected, and often the oven light does not come on when you open the door. There is no error code.

Typical symptoms

  • after power-up the display shows the Bosch logo and freezes,
  • the touch controls do not work at all,
  • the cavity light stays off and the fan does not run,
  • disconnecting the power – even for an hour – changes nothing; the logo comes back,
  • early warning: days or weeks before, the panel reacts more and more slowly and the start-up logo stays on screen longer.

The cause: a SystemMaster software fault

In these ovens the whole appliance is controlled by an electronic module called the SystemMaster. It starts the display and the touch panel and controls the heating elements, fan, light, sensors and the Home Connect connection.

The fault comes from a bug in the SystemMaster software. Over time it leaves the module unable to finish booting – the display shows the logo, but the rest of the oven receives no commands. That is why neither the touch controls nor the light work, and why a power reset does nothing: the module stops at the same point at every start.

It mainly affects ovens built from roughly mid-2023 to mid-2024 – their rating plate shows an FD number from 0306 to 0405. Replacing the touch panel does not help – the panel is fine, the problem is in the module.

SystemMaster repair – 500 PLN (approx. €115)

This fault cannot be fixed from the oven itself – the menu does not start. The module has to be removed and reprogrammed for your oven’s E-Nr. Service often suggests replacing the module and the panel – we repair your SystemMaster for 500 PLN (approx. €115). You can send the module to us by post from anywhere in the EU.

  • Call us or send a WhatsApp message (we answer in English) – we confirm whether the symptoms match and tell you how to remove the module from your model.
  • Send us the SystemMaster module (with the oven disconnected from the mains).
  • We reprogram the module for your E-Nr, test it and send it back. Once refitted, the oven starts normally – you only need to set up your favourites again.
  • After the repair, connect the oven to Home Connect so it receives software updates and the fault does not come back.

If your oven is less than 5 years old, it is worth asking the manufacturer’s service about this fault first.

Have the E-Nr and FD from the rating plate ready (visible on the edge of the oven cavity when the door is open), e.g. HBG7741B1/01 – we use them to check your model.

Summary

A Bosch oven that freezes on the logo, ignores the touch controls and does not switch on the light most often has a software problem in its SystemMaster module. Neither a power reset nor a new panel helps – the module has to be reprogrammed. We do it for 500 PLN (approx. €115).
