Bosch WAN / Siemens washing machine won’t spin, time jumps from 14 to 4 minutes – error E60-21 (E6021)

Codes: E60-21, E6021, 0:14 → 0:04Brand: Bosch, SiemensAppliance: Washing machines

This is a very typical fault of Bosch Serie 4 washing machines marked WAN (e.g. WAN24…, WAN28…) and the twin Siemens machines built on the same platform. Washing runs normally, but when the spin should start, the remaining time suddenly jumps from 14 to 4 minutes, the drum does not speed up and the machine ends the programme with wet laundry. Usually there is no message on the display, but the machine stores error code E60-21 (also written as E6021) in its fault memory.

Typical symptoms

  • washing and rinsing work, the problem only appears at the spin stage,
  • the remaining time jumps from 0:14 to 0:04 (or similar – down by several minutes),
  • the drum tries to speed up and gives up, or does not accelerate at all,
  • the laundry is very wet although the water has been pumped out,
  • no message on the display, but E60-21 / E6021 in the fault memory.

What to rule out yourself

Before suspecting the electronics, check the things that cause a similar effect:

  • Unbalanced load. The machine will not spin when the laundry forms one lump (e.g. a single towel, a rug, a jacket). Try spinning several items of different sizes.
  • Programme and options. Make sure “no spin” or a very low speed is not selected and that the programme includes a spin at all.
  • Pump filter. If water stays in the drum, the machine will not start spinning. Clean the filter behind the flap in the lower corner.
  • Levelling. The machine should stand level and firm – heavy vibration while speeding up also stops the spin.

If all of this is fine and the time jumps from 14 to 4 minutes every time, the cause is in the electronics.

Cause: faulty module

In WAN machines the motor is controlled by an electronic module. When the part of the module that drives the motor starts to fail, the machine tries to speed up the drum, but the inverter protection trips. Instead of stopping the programme with a message on the display, the controller stores error E60-21 and simply skips the spin (hence the sudden 10-minute jump).

Replacing the motor or the belt will not help here – the module has to be repaired.

Which modules are affected

The fault with error E60-21 and the time jump from 14 to 4 minutes affects the control (power) modules with the numbers:

  • 8001196790
  • 8001196791

You will find the number on the sticker on the module housing. If your module has a different number but the symptoms are the same – contact us and we will check it.

Module repair – 500 PLN (approx. €115)

A new module is expensive and has to be programmed for your specific machine. We repair your own module – the repair costs 500 PLN (approx. €115).

  • Write to us on WhatsApp or by e-mail and describe the fault – we confirm whether the symptoms match.
  • Remove the module (after disconnecting power and water) and send it to us. We accept parcels from the whole EU.
  • We repair, test and return the module – once fitted, the machine works properly.

Have the E-Nr from the rating plate ready (e.g. WAN28260PL/01) – it lets us check your model straight away.

Summary

A Bosch WAN washing machine that does not spin, jumps from 14 to 4 minutes and stores error E60-21 (E6021) in most cases has a faulty module 8001196790 or 8001196791. First rule out an unbalanced load and a blocked filter. If the symptom keeps coming back – a module repair costs 500 PLN and is much cheaper than a new part or a new machine.

Safety: unplug the appliance before removing any cover. Capacitors on the board may stay charged – wait a few minutes and do not touch the components.
